Just as the traditional sauna, the infrared sauna is a wooden cabin allowing you to take dry heat baths. It differs from the traditional sauna by its heating method: in an infrared sauna, the wood stove is replaced by infrared emitters. Thus, unlike the traditional sauna which heats the ambient air with steam, the infrared sauna directly heats your skin with a radiation system similar to that of the sun but without UVs. This has several advantages. First of all, the diffused heat is uniform and does not have the difference in temperature between the floor and the ceiling that we can have in a traditional sauna. Secondly, the heat is much softer and less demanding on the heart. While in a traditional cabin the temperature can reach 212°F, in an infrared cabin it can reach between 104°F to 140°F. Although the temperature is lower in an infrared sauna, its effectiveness is not affected. Actually, one can sweat 3 to 6 times more in this type of sauna. While more bearable, your sauna sessions in an infrared cabin will have a greater detox effect: you will sweat more quickly, which improves blood circulation, relax muscles, purify the skin and participate in the loss of body fat. Finally, the infrared sauna is also more economical, often cheaper and it requires less energy consumption thanks to a faster preheating time.

At Wellbeing Saunas you will find quality infrared saunas made of Hemlock wood. This type of wood, perfectly adapted to saunas, has the advantage of offering great resistance and perfect insulation. We offer two types of emitters: carbon and ceramic. Carbon emitters are slightly less powerful than ceramic emitters, but they cover a larger surface area and thus guarantee better heat diffusion.

Many infrared sauna cabins are also equipped with ionizers, which will allow you to purify the air inside while diffusing a pleasant scent of your choice. Some models will also allow you to practice chromotherapy sessions. Prescribed in many traditional medicines, chromotherapy is based on the principle that the color spectrum plays a role in our condition. Thus, a blue color in your sauna will enhance your relaxation, while red will boost your blood circulation.

Is the infrared sauna dangerous? No. The word "ray" can sometimes cause doubts, but infrared sauna works like the sun, just without the harmful effects of UVA rays. It is safe, and is often used in baby incubators to keep them at a nice, warm temperature. The infrared sauna is also recommended by many doctors. Its health benefits are numerous. Sauna sessions help eliminate toxins, reduce stress and improve blood circulation, the immune system and skin. Heat baths are highly recommended in the treatment of certain dermatological diseases, such as eczema or psoriasis.
